Last night I had the opportunity to attend the Music City! Keep On Playin’ benefit concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. Wow! What a defining moment for Nashville music and the people who call Nashville home. There was such a feeling of love from the moment we entered the Ryman. The resilience of our great city in the midst of the recent flood disaster is like no other I’ve seen. Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, Kellie Pickler, CeCe Winans, Sheryl Crow, Keb Mo and Will Hoge all put on great performances. In addition to that stellar line-up there were a few incredible stand-outs. Lady Antebellum absolutely blew me away with their acoustic version of “Need You Now”! Their harmonies are amazing. Then Brad Paisley showed us all why he has found so much success in music. We all know he can sing but Brad Paisley can tear it up on guitar. It was also great to see him and his wife Kim start off the night donating $100,000 to the benefit. And probably my favorite performance of the evening was Jaci Velasquez singing “On My Knees”. Yes, I am a little biased but I was reminded of the talent that woman possesses! Jaci’s performance was met with an standing ovation reminiscent of a performance of the same song on the Ryman stage when she was 15 years old.
Music City! Keep On Playin’ was a special night for Nashville and one the made me proud to call Nashville home!
